Attractions
Cascade has a lot to offer in the way of accommodations, services and supplies for hunters, fisherman and those looking for adventure in the surrounding countryside, but its location is what makes it so special. Situated at the southern end of Lake Cascade, the fourth largest lake in the state, the town is perfectly located for access to the lake and to the Payette River which winds around town in a long, gentle curve. Cascade also serves as an excellent starting point for travel to millions of acres of mountainous backcountry and wilderness area. During the winter months Cascade serves as a central starting point for hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails and numerous Nordic ski trails in the vicinity.

Enjoy the scenery, bird life and occasional wildlife as you stroll along the banks of the Payette River as it takes a long, gentle curve around the town. A good place to start your walk is from Water's Edge RV Park or The Ashley Inn or the sports park located at the southest end of Cascade.

  Kelly's Whitewater Park    website Cascade

A soon-to-be attraction in Cascade, and the first of its kind in Idaho, Kelly's Whitewater Park will attract canoers, kayakers, rafters and tubers for competitions or just to play. The park, which stretches 1,800 feet down the Payette River as it flows past the site of the old Boise-Cascade Mill, will feature four manmade rapids and a short slalom channel.

The Friends of the Cascade Whitewater Park is currently in the process of acquiring permits; and if things go according to plan, construction will begin fall (2009), when the water flow is reduced enough to build in the river. There are also plans in the works to acquire land alongside Kelly's Whitewater Park for a 200-acre park with pathways, parking and restroom facilities.

The river is a public waterway and will remain as such with the addition of the park, which means no access fees! The board of directors plans to maintain the park through fund raising events and event registration and vendor fees from scheduled competitions.

  Lake Cascade     Cascade

Lying along the base of the mountains on the western side, Cascade Lake provides gorgeous scenic beauty, but it's far more than just a pretty sight. Its length of more than twenty miles provides a paradise for sportsmen and recreational boating enthusiasts during the summer months and is a popular destination for ice fishing in the winter. Numerous public campgrounds surround the lake, as well as a large number of private vacation homes. Click Here for more detail on the lake and Cascade State Park.  (photo courtesy of The Ashley Inn)

Information on the location of the numerous undeveloped hot springs is available at local ranger headquarters or the local chamber of commerce.

The craftsmanship involved in the creation of the poles is sure to fascinate those lucky enough to view them. The park is private so you'll need to call ahead to arrange your visit.

  Warm Lake     Cascade

This beautiful, deep mountain lake is nestled in pine forests only 25 miles east of Cascade along an excellent secondary road. Fully developed facilities, including two lodges and numerous campsites, make this an extremely desirable destination for weekend family camping trips or extended vacation time during the summer. Warm Lake offers excellent fishing, and the surrounding area is popular for hiking and wildlife viewing, particularly moose.

  Yellow Pine     Yellow Pine

This small community, with a year-round population of around 40, is a remnant of Idaho's past. Yellow Pine offers limited food and lodging during the summer months but provides an excellent starting point for exploring the backcountry and the ghost mining towns of Stibnite, Cinnabar and Thunder Mountain. If you are a golfer, don't miss the opportunity to play the unique 18-hole golf course. The town hosts one of the nation's largest harmonica festivals every August.  http://www.harmonicacontest.com/
